WISPDOCK / PRE-LAUNCH
Minecraft plugins and server software
Choose the server platform before collecting add-ons. A plugin built for Paper and a mod built for Fabric are not interchangeable.
Server software at a glance
Vanilla keeps the official server behaviour. Paper supports the Bukkit plugin ecosystem. Fabric, Forge and NeoForge are mod loaders. Match every add-on to the exact platform and Minecraft version you intend to run.
A practical plugin shortlist
Permissions, world protection and backup tools are useful categories to investigate. LuckPerms, WorldEdit and CoreProtect are examples to research for a compatible plugin server. Check each project’s documentation, dependencies and permissions before installation.
Add changes one at a time
Start from a working backup. Install one compatible plugin, restart as required and inspect the console before adding another. Avoid downloading jars from unofficial reupload sites.
Keep access narrow
A plugin may add commands, permissions or network requests. Give players only the permissions they need. Keep a record of installed versions so a problem can be traced after an update.
Questions before you start
Can I install any plugin?
Only plugins compatible with the server software and version should be considered. Some also require dependencies or a separate paid licence.
Does Wispdock already have a plugin installer?
